At DCAEYC, we know that strong communities are built through connection, shared purpose, and the people who remain committed to showing up for others. We are grateful for spaces that bring leaders together to reflect, build relationships, and strengthen the broader network of support surrounding children, families, and early childhood care professionals.
On April 10, DCAEYC Executive Director Berna Artis attended a networking and fellowship event hosted by the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. The evening brought together a powerful group of women leaders and changemakers committed to creating opportunities, advancing equity, and supporting communities across Washington, DC.
The gathering was a meaningful reminder that early childhood education is deeply connected to a larger ecosystem. The work of supporting children and families is linked to housing, economic opportunity, advocacy, and the many systems that shape daily life and long-term well-being.
As Berna shared, “Grateful for the space to connect, reflect, and be in community. We are united by a common purpose: to open doors and create opportunities for those who have not always been given them.”
We thank the Washington Area Women’s Foundation for creating such a meaningful evening and for bringing together women who continue to lead with purpose and impact.
