Now Available: Voices of Early Learning, Fall 2026 Edition

The past twelve months have been filled with advocacy, significant policy choices, and new obstacles to overcomeregarding early childhood education within Washington, D.C. As such, there is a lot to consider as you review DCAEYC's most recent publication.
What happens when we win big after months of advocating? How will changes to how the federal government makesdecisions affect those of us working in early childhood education? And what will be the experiences of our educators and families as the District begins its next fiscal year?
We are proud to present to you the publication of Magazine 04 (Fall 2026 Edition), which is currently available for viewing in both English and Spanish. It arrives following a particularly active year for Washington, DC's early childhood education community. From the fight to protect essential funding to national discussions about professional recognition and the future of early learning, this edition brings together developments worth understanding and perspectives worth hearing.
At the center of this edition is DC's FY27 budget, a story of sustained advocacy, community participation, and significant funding decisions. But the conversation does not end with the budget. What does the future hold for Head Start? How might artificial intelligence affect the work of early childhood educators? What happens when the cost of raising a child or the hours parents work make early learning difficult to access?
The Fall Edition examines these questions while connecting policy developments with the realities of early childhood education in the District.
Readers will also meet DCAEYC member and longtime advocate Cynthia Davis, discover practical ideas for the classroom, revisit some of our community's activities and accomplishments, and find opportunities for continued professional learning.
Whether you have been following DCAEYC's advocacy efforts, recently joined our membership, or are reading Voices of Early Learning for the first time, we hope this edition gives you new information, useful perspectives, and a reason to join the conversation.
We invite you to read, share your favorite articles with colleagues, and explore the work taking place across DC's early childhood education community.
