The NAEYC Annual Conference in Orlando brought together thousands of early childhood professionals from across the country, and DCAEYC was proud to be part of this gathering. For four days, our team joined sessions, engaged in rich conversations, explored the expansive expo hall, and connected with colleagues who care deeply about the future of early learning.
This conference is known as the largest early childhood education convening in the world. Walking through its sessions and events makes clear why. The program offered hundreds of presentations, research based discussions, hands on workshops and opportunities to learn directly from educators, administrators, researchers and policymakers who shape our field every day.
Throughout the week, our team focused on learning, supporting our members and sharing the work that is happening in Washington, DC. We joined classes that highlighted new strategies to strengthen the workforce, promote equity and deepen family engagement. We met with affiliate leaders from across the country and had meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing early childhood education. These exchanges reminded us of the strength that comes from collaboration and of how much we gain when affiliates come together with openness and purpose.
We are grateful for the thoughtful presentations and panels that offered new perspectives for our local work. The expo hall also stood out as a valuable space where we explored innovative tools, materials and resources that can support early childhood professionals in classrooms and programs across the District.
Our participation would not have been possible without the support of partners who believe in this work. We also thank our DCAEYC board members Beatriz Barros (President), Rosa Moraes and Alethea Etinoff for their leadership during the conference.
We are especially proud of our members Lashawn Palmer and Annette Miles, who represented the strength and dedication of early childhood professionals in DC. Their presence reflects the commitment and heart that define our community.
As we return home, we bring with us renewed energy and a deeper connection to the network of educators and leaders working toward the same mission. The insights we gained this week will guide our efforts as we continue supporting early childhood professionals throughout Washington, DC.
Next year, the NAEYC Annual Conference will take place in our own city. We are honored to welcome friends, colleagues and partners to Washington, DC, and we look forward to hosting everyone in a place that holds so much meaning for our community and our work.
