On September 10, DCAEYC hosted Why the Child Is Not the Problem: Building Adult Capacity to Respond to Challenging Behavior, a member conversation with Dr. Neal Horen and Shai Idelson from Georgetown University.
The session focused on the importance of strengthening adult capacity when responding to challenging behavior in early learning environments, with attention to the role of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation and the supports available to professionals and programs.
DCAEYC is pleased to make the session materials available to our members as an ongoing resource. The materials include the presentation slides and a one-page resource on how to fund and braid funding for a consultant position. Members can access the materials below.
The session also included information about the IECMHC Impact Award, which provides a $750 tuition reduction for 30 participants in the October cohort of the Practical Certificate offered by Georgetown University’s Center of Excellence for IECMHC and Attunify, Inc. Awardees pay $2,250 for the full year, or under $190 per month over 12 installments.
