THE HOMELESS CHILDREN’S PLAYTIME PROJECT COMMITTEE
The Homeless Children Playtime Project was incorporated in 2005 by a coalition of concerned community members in response to the discovery that the vast majority of family shelters had no programs or services for children despite the myriad risk factors associated with homelessness. The Playtime Project works to help break the cycle of homelessness by providing children the opportunity to play and learn. Today, there are more than 100 volunteers who dedicate their time every week to support positive emotional development for one of the most vulnerable populations in the District of Columbia.
Following a meeting in March by the staff at the Project, we will need a person to Chair a committee to design and implement a plan to engage DCAEYC members as volunteers at the sites operated by the Homeless Children Playtime Project each week. If you are interested and have questions about involvement, don't hesitate to email DCAEYC30@gmail.com.
